The Assistant Chief Commissioner (ACC) Program Support is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of the Scouting program that meets the needs of both Scouts Australia and the South Australian community—ensuring that both youth and adult members understand the fundamentals of the program and are supported in the successful delivery of the Scouting program.

Our challenge is to nurture and support program delivery in current and future groups. In a rapidly changing world, we need to explore new approaches to program delivery and how we can support our fellow volunteers to achieve success. If you are passionate about Scouting, enjoy leading, and have innovative ideas on how we can assist with program implementation, then this could be the role for you.

This is a volunteer role open to current members of Scouts SA and other volunteers in the broader community.

Key responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture a high-performing team culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and shared responsibility for program initiatives across Scouts SA.
  • Promote youth-led program planning and decision-making through training, mentoring, and structural opportunities for youth voice and leadership.
  • Ensure the implementation of key Imagine 2030 program priorities, including inclusion, innovation, and youth empowerment, with measurable progress reviewed at BLT meetings.
  • Partner with District leaders to implement and refine program delivery models tailored to local needs, ensuring consistency, flexibility, and alignment with Branch expectations.
  • Support local program teams as part of the Branch Health strategy through coaching, training access, and resource sharing that builds capacity and confidence.
  • Monitor and enhance participation and retention by tracking engagement indicators such as attendance, progress on award pathways, and youth feedback. This provides key success data.
  • Build a support network among groups merging to foster a unified approach in program delivery and membership growth.
  • Represent Scouts SA as a member of the National Youth Program Team, ensuring a two-way communication flow.
