Training at a basic level offers the base level of skills and competencies required to be a Leader within Scouting.
Basic Training comprises workbooks, in-service activities, seminars and on the job skills. Content of Basic training includes leadership, Scouting knowledge, personal development, camping techniques and a component relating to each individual participant’s role in Scouting.
This course is for ALL Leaders undertaking Gilwell Training, both Leaders of Youth and Leaders of Adults. For part of the weekend Leaders of Youth and Leaders of Adults do separate components relevant to their role.
Residential Course at the Lones Hut
For Venturer and Scout Leaders includes Lightweight Camping (Level 1 Bushwalking).
For Leader of Youth or specialist activities content includes sectional organisation, management, programming and the outdoors.

On completion of Basic Level training and paperwork submitted for assessing, Leaders receive:

• Scout Certificate of Adult Leadership
• Gilwell woggle
