Apply to be an Adult Volunteer with Scouts SA

Thank you for your interest in becoming an Adult Volunteer with Scouts SA.

Before you start the online application process, please review the following information.

1. What will I need to complete my online application

As part of the online application process you will need to provide the following. More detail can be accessed through the relevant links below.

  • Your personal details including full name, gender, birth date and some general demographic data.
  • Contact information including an email address, contact phone number and home address (mandatory)
  • Details about the Scouting Formation (Scout Group, Activity Team) you will be joining and the position you are applying for
  • Details of any previous Scouting experience (if applicable)
  • Read through and accept Scouts Australia policies including the Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics and Mutual Agreement
  • Details of a National Police Check (instructions below)
  • Details of a Working with Children Check (instructions below)
2. Mandatory Checks - WWCC, NPC’s & References

National Police Check (NPC)

As part of the online application process you will be prompted to select an option for your National Police Check. Please select the option most relevant.

Scouts SA has staff available at the Head Office (Wayville) that can sight ID, call us on 08 7134 1200 to book a time. Otherwise a JP or SAPOL officer are recommended to copy and verify the ID and paper form, we recommend you take photocopies with you as the service may not be provided.

Once we receive this application we are required to send to SAPOL for processing. You can expect to receive your certificate in the mail, please refer to step 3 for the verification step of your NPC.

Working With Children’s Check (WWCC)

As part of the online application process you will be prompted to select an option for your Working with Children Check. Please select the option most relevant.

  • I do not have a current WWCC check. Can you please assist me with applying for one.
  • I have applied for but not yet received confirmation so I will forward details once received
  • I already have a current WWCC, providing the details below for verification

Depending on which option you select, please action as appropriate.

Reference Checks

Scouts SA is required to conduct at least two reference checks for all new adults in Scouting and are currently using a company called Veremark to manage those checks.

You will receive an email from Veremark requesting referee details, if you require assistance refer to the guide below.

3. Verification - Personal Checks

National Police Check

SAPOL will mail your clearance certificate via post which needs to be verified by Scouts SA.

You can either:

  • Post or show the physical certificate to a verifying officer at Head Office
  • Email copy of your certificate that has been certified by a JP to membership@sa.scouts.com.au

Working With Children’s Check

If you provided us your WWCC clearance details in Step 1 we will verify your check via the DHS portal.

If we lodged a check on your behalf we will receive verification via the DHS portal.

You are not required to do anything further.

Reference Checks

Scouts SA will contact you if there are any issues from Step 2.

You are not required to do anything further.

4. Mandatory Training

All Adult Volunteers are required to completed three online training modules – WHS, Child Safe and Code of Conduct.

Depending on the role you are taking on there will be other training to complete.
