Welcome to Scouting@Home for the week – we hope you’re all enjoying some great Scouting activities.

This email is going to all of our Leaders, Youth Members/Parents in order to help you continue your Scouting during our at home mode. We want you to keep Scouting – and more importantly share with your friends the great activities youre doing while at home!

Visit https://qstore.sa.scouts.com.au/scoutingfromhome/ to keep up to date with the new resources and ideas we will keep adding in. There are so many resources and ideas out there – the key to remember is pick what works for your Unit and put it together in your program that works for you.

Challenge for the week: Outdoor

Its Easter time – what better time for a camp at home! Our challenge for you this week is to either build a shelter or setup your tent at home and have camp at home sometime over the next week.

Here are some suggestions on how you can plan, do and review – you may want to change it a bit to make it more of a challenge

Plan

  • Using your resources at home, create a shelter or setup a tent for your at home camp
  • Work out what equipment you need for your camp
  • Plan an Easter hunt around your house for your family
  • Plan an activity to do on camp e.g. campfire, easter egg hunt, scavenger hunt
  • Work out your menu for your camp

Do

  • Setup your tent or shelter ready for your camp
  • Prepare and cook a meal for you and your family (or part of the meal!) – including packing up!
  • Create a camp gadget out of sticks, straws, pop sticks etc.
  • Build a campfire and roast some marshmallows

Review

  • Share your camp at home with your Unit or Patrol – as well as Scouts SA
  • What did you enjoy?
  • If you were to do this activity again, what would you do differently?
  • What new skills have you learnt to share with your Patrol or Unit?

Don’t forget to share your photos – email them to marketing@sahq.scouts.com.au or post on the Scouts SAFacebook page.

From last week: Personal Growth Challenge – Teach a Skill

Who managed to teach a skill to someone else last week?We wonder what the strangest skill was?

Don’t forget to send in your photos of your skill or talent to share with others from this week.

Send your positive photos and captions to marketing@sahq.scouts.com.au or share them on our Facebook page

Activities to do in your neighbourhood

Remember the kids book “We Are Going On A Bear Hunt?”

Place a Teddy bear in a window of your home for people to spot if they are going for a walk during COVID 19 – a fun way to help brighten everyone’s day.

The positives from this activity include

  • Doing something positive and fun for your local community
  • Practicing social distancing guidelines
  • Parents can help kids spot teddy bears
  • Older Youth Members can be involved and rotate teddy bear in the window
  • Help keep us busy – how many can you find?
  • Teddy bear locations are kept secret so you can enjoy the mystery of the surprise

Remember to share your photos of what you find.
